Prof. Srinibas Karmakar

  • Associate Professor, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, India

Bio

Dr. Srinibas Karmakar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, specializing in combustion and propulsion research. He obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana State University, USA, in 2012, and holds an M.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering from IIT Kanpur, India. His research interests include combustion of solid and metallized fuels, green hypergolic propellants, alternative aviation fuels, and droplet and spray combustion. He has guided seven completed and seven ongoing Ph.D. scholars, along with numerous postgraduate researchers. Dr. Karmakar has published extensively in leading international journals and serves on editorial and technical committees in combustion and propulsion. He is the Principal Investigator of multiple sponsored research projects funded by DRDO, SERB, and DST, focusing on advanced rocket and ramjet propulsion technologies. He has developed state-of-the-art propulsion laboratories at IIT Kharagpur and actively contributes to teaching and national-level online courses in combustion and propulsion.

Invited Speaker II / 大會邀請演講者(二)

Prof. Kuo-Yi Chen

  • Assistant Professor, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Taiwan

Bio

Dr. Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Institute of Space System Engineering (iSSE) at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), Taiwan. Dr. Chen specializes in electric propulsion, nuclear fusion in condensed matter, and plasma carbon capture. He earned his Ph.D. from Tsinghua University in 2022, where he conducted pioneering research on high-performance Electron Cyclotron Resonance (ECR) magnetic nozzle thrusters. Before his appointment at NYCU, Dr. Chen was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of British Columbia (UBC), where he led the Thunderbird Reactor project. During this period, he designed and constructed a bespoke plasma immersion ion implantation (PIII) system to investigate electrochemically enhanced D–D lattice confinement fusion. His expertise encompasses plasma physics, neutron-detection diagnostics, and interdisciplinary applications, such as the Plasma-Electrochemical Coupling reactor for CO2 conversion. Dr. Chen is dedicated to advancing the fundamental understanding of plasma science while translating these insights into next-generation space propulsion and clean energy technologies. His work continues to drive innovation at the intersection of plasma physics, materials engineering, and aerospace systems.
